Arriving in Kenya was definely a step-change from the bright lights of Dubai. On arrival we alighted onto the airport runway before catching a thirty year old bus to the ‘terminal’, a converted car park – Nairobi International having had a major fire and the actual terminal burning down last year. We met our hugely friendly driver, Smiley, who gave us a ride in his personal car (old Charade, no seatbelts, cracked windscreen) along pothole filled roads to our first nights accommodation; The (very) basic but (fairly) clean Karen Camp.
Hmmm, maybe we shouldn’t have had a stop over in Dubai. There was a beautiful lightning storm in the distance on arrival though – so on balance, all good.
